Priorities and complaint

So, it's been a bit of a boring day, and I'm uber-tired from a week of work experience (I'll talk more about that next Saturday,) and I'm just thinking "Blergh. I'm bored." And then I think "Have I really got a right to complain?"

We complain about everything. When it's hot, when it's cold, when it's school/work, when it's a holiday, when we go by car, when we have to walk, when we have to choose Galaxy over Cadbury's Dairy Milk. Sometimes complaint is legitimate. Like when somebody has been mistreated, bullied or abused, to give just three examples. We have every right to complain about that, but then we have our fair share of moaning, too, plenty of which I'm guilty of too.

The thing that makes me stop and reevaluate is when I think "People are dying around the world, being tortured, raped, killed, abused, malnourished or listening to Justin Bieber. Have I really got it that bad?"

I mean, sometimes, we need a good moan, getting things off our chests. We don't tend to benefit from it a lot of the time unless we're going out and getting a solution to our problems, we just feel a little less crappy once we've done so.

So like I said, I'm not going to tell you not to do this, because I do it, but it's just interesting whenever you catch yourself complaining and thinking "What the hell right have I got to be whining when that's what it's like out there?" Obviously we don't always get our priorities right.

  1. I can't agree with you more. I love the idea. We should appreciate what we've already had. :)
