You know, I'm really not that great at recommendations

Sure, I'll take a few and some I really like, The Hunger Games was a recommendation from me by my librarian. But usually, when people send me links to webcomics, books, TV series, videos etc that they like, I just don't care. If it's something short that I can take a look at quickly like a YouTube video or a page of a webcomic, cool beans, but bar that, if it's not something *I* found, then I don't tend to care. Of course, like I said, there are exceptions, and if somethings catches my eye and you've sent it to me, I will take a look. And I'm not trying to discourage y'all from sending me cool shit, just saying that I won't necessarily look at it.

Why I distrust psychology

So I was in Waterstones (bookshop) earlier this afternoon and browsing the "Smart Thinking" section, which had some really interesting titles in it, and they all looked fascinating, nearly all of them books that inspected our minds, lives, some aspect of the internet or our relationships, the list goes on. And of course, almost all of these books promised a fascinating new perspective on some part of our lives. The thing is, how the fuck am I supposed to know what's accurate when everyone has different opinions on psychology?

Misolunadiesy

Here's a new word for you which I'm sure you can all associate with: misolunadiesy (mai-zoe-loo-nuh-dee-zee) or the hatred of Mondays. If you're a person who hates Mondays, you're a misolunadies. If something's related to hating Mondays, it's misolunadiesical. If you do something like a misolunadies would, you're doing it misolunadiesically. So there's a brand new word for you to use whenever you feel like expressing yourself at the start of the week ;)

Happiness: Guilty as charged

So I don't have the perfect life, noone really seems to; I have many flaws and plenty of things that I don't like about my life. But these are all really small things, like my hair, or the education system I have to swim through. In general? I feel really frigging happy with my life. And I feel guilty as hell about it.

I'm working on it

I'm not the most organised: my homework is usually last-minute and my room permanently untidy.
I'm not the greatest when it comes to memory: tell me something and I may ask you a second later what the heck you just said (sometimes I can't remember what I said.)
I'm not the most time-managed, I spend a lot of my time on the computer and not a lot of time doing any work - I procrastinate so easily.

I'm not the best blogger out there, I don't do an awful lot to go out there and attract people to my blog, and I don't post consistently.
I'm not the hardest worker: I care nothing for a lot of my school subjects and only work on the ones I don't enjoy because I have to.
I'm not as great a writer as I want to be, for the reason that I'm afraid of commitment and don't actually write much.

But to all these things I have say this...

I'm working on it.

Charity and transgenderism

Something that's always been an object of curiosity to me is the question of charity: what's the most important cause, what should you donate to? Others like to get into the Kantian line of arguments: you should donate to charity out of a sense of duty, and not out of self-gratification or any other motivation than this motivation. I don't personally go for the latter; £1,000 for Comic Relief is still £1,000 for Comic Relief whether it was donated by a selfless man wishing to help people's quality of life or by a business for the sake of looking good.

For Luma

I woke up on Sunday in the afternoon to be told by mum that she had rubbish news. I sat up and didn't say a word, looked at her face, noticed the tears; possibilities ran through my head: Had her boyfriend dumped her, had she lost someone? No, we both had. I woke up to be told my poor cat Luma had been run over.

Two years ago, on November the 5th, my beautiful cat Neo went missing when she ran away on Fireworks night, scared off, doubtless, by the fireworks. This year, we made sure that wasn't going to happen; kept Luma in to make sure he couldn't get out and run away; that worked. And then he was killed by a car the next day. I don't believe in God or fate but I know bad luck when I see it.

Luma was such a beautiful thing. He was a complete ditz; black, short-haired, with the odd cat eyes that can go so easily from green to yellow to orange. He was never a big thing, but he was infamous; he would scare off other cats, attack my godfamily's dog, break into peoples homes and steal their cats food, we even heard reports of him waking up a then irate man by jumping on him and attacking their cat with no provocation. The thug <3.

I loved Luma as I loved all my cats, and I'll miss him a lot. He went by a great deal of nicknames: Jingly, Evil, Moron, Pillock, Blackie, Bella, Stupid, Lumalee, Lumanescence, Devil, Satan, Smelly... they were all affectionate, of course (although we can hardly claim he was a saintly cat ;)...) but I'll always remember him for what I named him. Anyone who's played Super Mario Galaxy will remember the Lumas; cute and adorable little stars. Well, that's what Luma was, a cute and adorable star.

I'll miss you, my little puss. You were the sweetest, stupidest, adorablest cat, and I love you.

In memory of Luma. My best birthday present yet.
