Review - The Hunger Games

First off, reason there was no post on Saturday is because I'm an idiot and lost track of the time. But anyway, this was coming up in the first place, as one of my favourite books out there, so, here's a review of The Hunger Games trilogy, by Suzanne Collins :)

Trust issues

The title and the following make it perfectly clear what this post is about, and you can stop reading after these four words if you want to, because this will be a long post: I have trust issues.

But I'm gonna talk about it anyway.

Fanfiction

You know, until now, I hadn't written a fanfiction in over two years. As it stands, I've barely written ANYTHING fiction-wise in months :3. So it's ever so refreshing to be writing again, and after one of my favourite books too!

RuneScape

Funny thing, I've been a part of the RuneScape community for about six years or more, but over the past two years or so, my interest in it has declined, and eventually I just stopped caring altogether. I officially quit a few weeks ago.

Keeping up

You know, it's a funny thing, I've been blogging for at least two months now, and it was only a few weeks ago that Anders Behring Breivik bombed a street in Oslo, Norway, and then proceeded to murder almost a hundred innocent people... that'd be the kind of thing you'd expect a blogger interested in the world around him or her to talk about. And I had a blog all planned out to talk about Norway, too, but I never got round to writing it, could never quite make it sound right, and gave up on it.

I really don't always keep up with the times that well. I used to compensate for this by setting CNN as my homepage to keep up with the news, so that I was fairly well up to date with current affairs. But even with this, I'm still not one of those dedicated "with-it" people who'll always be talking about current affairs. I guess it's not the end of the world, and there's no obligation to be one of those people, so I shouldn't really worry about it.

I try to follow this maxim: It doesn't matter if the train's already left the station, just jump on it and make the best of it before it goes even further away into the distance.

LGBT - Coming Out

It's odd, really. I enjoy blogging a lot, because it's great fun, regardless of the small demographic, but I never show my parents my blog... because I talk on it about the fact that I'm bisexual. And the odd thing here is, well, everyone knows it. I'm openly bisexual, but, I'm not open about it with my parents. Here's the kicker: they already know.

Closed-mindedness

I'm troubled.

I normally tell people not to be closed-minded. Do I follow that maxim myself? I doubt it. This isn't something I only just started thinking about, but I was reminded of it when I randomly came across a song that I really liked, and it made me think... "Just how many songs are there that I like?" There's only one genre of music that I really like: classical. I don't listen to anything else.

Is it closed-mindedness, is it apathy? Either way, I'm not always a very adventurous person.

Boredom

It's pervasive, y'know. I wanna know, what do you guys do when you're bored? Do you have a fail-safe for such situations? Or do you just ride it out til the next day?

Ego

If I were to say that "human beings are selfish" right now, I wouldn't purely be referring to the kind of destructive greed that ignores anybody else's needs, I'd be referring to the fact that we, in the most literal sense of the word, care the most about our self. Most of us can sympathise and the good ones among us will do a lot to help those who are in pain or in need of help, but the true altruists who solely care about others and pay no heed to their own welfare... well, they're few and far between.

Leonidas and religion (Pt. III)

So I joined a great group on Facebook for atheists that's just started up yesterday. Lovely people there, and it didn't take much at all to start a multitude of debates among us atheists. One such debate reminded me of a common theme in religious arguments.
